The Ruby Rose - Cafe & Micro Bakery sits quietly in the small town of Hooper, offering a down-to-earth stop with a strong local feel. This spot blends a coffee shop’s cozy vibe with the heartiness of a neighborhood eatery, making it ideal for those passing through or locals craving a solid breakfast or lunch.

People tend to swing by here early or late morning to grab a coffee paired with something fresh from the bakery—cinnamon rolls and avocado toast seem to be reliable favorites. The coffee is crafted thoughtfully, fitting well with the casual pace of a small Colorado town where folks appreciate attentive, familiar service without fuss. While the space isn’t sprawling, the atmosphere is serene and simple, suited nicely to solo visitors needing a quiet moment or a chat with the friendly staff behind the counter.

For breakfast, offerings like a breakfast burrito with house-made salsa or biscuits smothered in green chili gravy provide a real taste of local comfort food, filling enough to get you set for a morning outdoors, especially if you’re heading to nearby Sand Dunes. Lunch continues that homestyle approach with burgers made from locally-sourced Blue Range Ranch beef, piled high with classic toppings, or tasty sandwiches like the turkey club, perfect if you want something hearty but casual.

The Ruby Rose also seems to carry a bit of roadside charm; travelers and truck drivers stop for more than just fuel here, finding a place where staff remember you and a quick stop can turn into a welcome break featuring unexpected extras like a free parfait or freshly baked treats. The kitchen keeps things straightforward and satisfying—the kind of spot where the fries are good enough on their own, no ketchup needed.

Visiting during the late morning or around lunchtime hits the sweet spot before they close in the early afternoon. Whether you’re pulling off the highway for gas, a quick caffeine fix, or a sit-down breakfast, this place fits that niche of small-town stops where the food is honest, the pace relaxed, and the welcome genuine.

This place is incredible. Got the Huevos Rancheros and a Mocha Latte and they were incredible. It's such a cute stop on the way to the dunes. Gas is card only, but that's fine. Stop by and grab a bite!

I am a OTR truck driver that just so happened to stop and ask directions to a pickup. Three ladies in there were so attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was serene. I ordered a wet breakfast burrito and 4 different deserts with coffee. That was 1 year ago. Today, I was given a pickup that put Ruby Rose's on my path. Yes, I had to stop and aquire some deliciousness pastries. Always a great experience. I love this place.

This is a lovely stop in a very small town. Stopped for gas and then got their cinnamon roll. Staff was really attentive and very nice. Also received a free parfait which was unexpected and really good! Overall would recommend stopping here

Exactly what we needed. Kids were wonderful. The girl took our order and the guy in the kitchen cooked us. The best chicken soup and BLT we’ve ever had. The french fries were so good. They didn’t even need ketchup.

Absolutely great breakfast food & lunch. Had a breakfast burrito bowl and wow it was fantastic. They use great ingredients and serve fantastic coffee. If you’re hungry give this place a try. Small point they close Early, around 2.

If you’re ever road tripping through Southern Colorado, make sure to plan a breakfast or lunch stop at the The Ruby Rose Bakery - Sweets & Gourmet Treats in Hooper. Plan plenty of time for this relaxed, family owned experience. We tried their frozen coffee drinks and the caramel and cake batter were both tasty. Their homemade pancakes were so fluffy and the whipped cream was a nice touch. Their big breakfast was enough for almost two people with that delicious Gosar sausage on the side. And, their scratch made biscuits and unique green chili sausage gravy is worth the drive by itself. If you’re in a hurry they have plenty of pre-made biscuit sandwiches and to-go options. I was surprised at just how busy this little place was in the hour we sat and ate.

Love The Ruby Rose Bakery & Cafe! The scones, muffins, and cinnamon rolls are incredible and the burgers are local grass-fed beef and some of the best burgers in ColoRADo. My youngest daughter loves the biscuits & gravy and begs me for them often. Angelica & her crew are so talented & welcoming! Thank you all for all that you do for our small town, and for all the travelers.

We stopped here on accident thinking it was a gas station with regular convenience goods. We were pleasantly surprised by the coffee bar, smoothies and food offerings. We decided to return Mother’s Day morning for breakfast. To celebrate the day, they gave me a cupcake and a rose. It was very sweet and the frosting on the cupcake was divine. They made gluten free Belgian waffles for the kids. I happily ate their leftovers the next day. I will go back when I’m visiting the area again.
